Bill catches Fogg, his former boss, in a compromising situation with the stenographer, and Fogg did not fail to notice the small black box in Bill's hands. Bill must have taken a picture, and Fogg is so focused on preventing that photo from reaching his wife that he fails to notice the romance budding between his daughter and Bill.
