Tupper, a widower, hopes to win the hand of Rachel Whipple, the wealthy daughter of the late John Whipple. His hopes seem dashed when he discovers Miss Whipple only has eyes for baseball players. Back at his club, he meets the famous pitcher Matty Christheson who suggests that he form a team of his own to impress the heiress.
