(Famous Players Film Company, 1912)
A psychic foretells the execution of Robert Devereux — the Earl of Essex and Queen Elizabeth’s lover. To prevent the prophecy from coming true, Elizabeth gives Essex a ring that she says he need only return and she will forgive him no matter what his crime. Meanwhile, the Earl of Nottingham, whose wife is having an affair with Essex, conspires with Francis Bacon to ensure that the future plays out exactly as foretold.
Also known as Les amours de la reine Élisabeth.
